Bittersweetness

When we moved out to Colorado for Mark's job it came very quickly. We took a big leap of faith to just pack up and move without selling our house yet. So for the past few months we have been paying both our mortgage to our house and our rent to our apartment. We didn't want to make more or less on selling the house we just wanted to break even and be free. Well on Sept 22 we officially closed and are no longer home owners. We feel so blessed at this time with the housing market the way it is right now.

I will miss and not miss:

House

Miss- Look how adorable it is! You can't really see it, but that big shady tree is beautiful all year round. The memories we had. The kitchen was my favorite! The apartment has no storage or pantry area so it was really hard to downsize after having the best kitchen.

I also loved the family room. We painted it green and the stove fireplace was so romantic and it was so fun to just sit in. This looks kind of dull because this was after we put new carpet in to show it so our furniture is all gone. We always put our Christmas tree in front of that big window.

Not Miss- The never ending costs and ongoing projects we had to fix. It was an old house built in the 1950s and both of us are not handy so we ended up shelling out so much money for things that had to be fixed. Now we just call a number and the apartment fixes anything in a day.

I won't miss our tiny bathroom. That is one thing that helped us decide on our apartment was the bathroom. Now we have double sinks and a really nice and clean shower that isn't old tile and rusty water stained.

The Orchard-

Miss- The peaches that come in the fall and going out in the mornings and picking one off of the tree to put on my honey bunches of oats cereal.

Not Miss- Being overwhelmed with apples and having to rake them up in the fall.

The Yard-

Miss- The privacy and back porch area we had. I miss not having to pick up Maggie's #2 in the yard, the apartment complex isn't as free to do that because there are so many dogs so we have to have a baggie every time now.

Not Miss-Mowing the 1/3 acre.

Carport/Driveway

Miss-I miss having our HUGE carport! I bet our neighbors will miss it too we would store boats, RVs and Campers for people. To get any type of carport or garage at our apartment complex it is an additional $50 a month!

Not Miss-Shoveling the driveway in the winter. And trying to get up our steep driveway in the snow.

North Salt Lake

Miss-Our ward, neighbors and being close to family and friends. We went to Kyoto with some friends right before we moved.

Not Miss- The cops that pull you over for every little thing. And living next to the oil refinery.

Bountiful Costco

Miss- The friends that I made and the people I would always run into.

Not Miss- Pushing in carts and transferring heavy items from one basket to the next.

Anyway sorry this is such a long post.
We are very happy with the way that things turned out.
It is kind of bittersweet not being homeowners anymore. But more sweet. :)

Day 8 & 9

Today we arrived at our last port Labadee Haiti.
The water in the Caribbean is absolutely beautiful!

This morning the girls woke up and we went to breakfast in the dining room.

The boys got in their last full day of flowriding.

We even met a new friend at the flowrider from Canada. Brett.
We became friends with him and his wife Lindsay

So we supported even when it was a bit cold.

We decided to get off the ship for awhile and see what it was all about.

All 8 of us laid out by the beach it was so fun!

Gaby, DJ, John, Amanda, Lindsay, Brett, Mark and I.
Plus a random guy waving in the background
We took turns floating on the mats we rented.

DJ & Gaby

Lindsay & Brett

Me and Amanda.

Then we went back to the ship.

Now it was almost time for the Best of the Best competition. You may ask what this is?
Well they pick 5 of the best or most improved Flowriders for a surf off.
Yes all of our boys were in it plus one young kid named Nicholas from Peru.

I didn't have much memory left on my camera so I didn't film the competition,
but I can tell you that the young kid from Peru won. Which was good because all of the smack talk ended and all of these guys remained friends. :)

Well we had a nice last dinner provided by our waiters.

It was like Thanksgiving.

We conquered a crazy Quest Game that will stay on the ship.
I will say that the other group from Utah got 1st place and we got 3rd.

We found an elephant on our bed this night

We woke up the next morning and said goodbye to our new friends.
We are already in the making of planning our next cruise!

This is my last post (this explains) so I wish everyone in the Blogging world good luck!

Day 7 Happy Birthday DJ

We celebrated our new friend DJ's Birthday today at Johnny Rockets!

It was even better then the first time!

We climbed the Wall today! I loved it!
I don't know if I could do it in real life and death, but I climbed this one 5x.

Mark tried it

John tried it

Amanda tried it

After rock climbing we went to the Ice Skating show.
Yes there was even a Ice skating rink on this ship!

It was such a great performance!

Afterwards Mark and I tried out the miniature golf. It was ok.
But it is pretty cool that you can miniature golf on a cruise. :)

Well tonight was another formal night. So we got all dolled up.

They served Lobster this night yum!

Day 6

Next morning we arrived at St. Maarten or St. Marten depending on which side of the island you are on. The French or the Dutch side. We stayed on the Dutch side this time. Last time we were on the French side of St. Marten and we got dropped off at a Nude beach.

We shopped and walked again, but not for long.

We didn't spend too much time on St. Maarten
the guys wanted to practice their flowriding skills.

I even gave it another try.

Then we sailed out.

We went to dinner it is always hard to pick what to order.

It is always good no matter what it is.

We were greeted by a monkey tonight!
